Do not be fooled by some of the cheap, lesser quality "Mayan Hammocks" that are on the market. These are the real thing!

They're made by hand and use the best material available, which ensures your hammock will provide you with the beauty, comfort, and durability that you expect. It's built using soft cotton threads that are woven with the same comfort-creating diamond technique that has been passed along for generations on the Yucatan Peninsula. (Some people compare the feeling of relaxing on a Mayan Hammock to that of lying on a soft sponge.) Because the artisans that create these Mayan Hammocks use strings that are four-times thicker than normal, they are strong enough to hold more than 850 pounds!

** Our Mayan Hammocks are handmade and dyed in a natural way. These hammocks use artisanal dye and not chemical dyes to color the prepared cotton threads. Mayan weavers integrate natural dyes to protect their natural surroundings by reducing the number of synthetic chemicals involved in the dyeing process. These hammocks are not colorfast so they will bleed and fade quickly under the rain and sun. This being said, it is best to store the hammock after use or you can leave it outdoors as long as it is protected by a hammock cover against the sun and rain.

This gorgeous stand sets the standard. The bamboo wood is harder than steel - making the stand virtually impervious to nicks and dents. The bamboo is waterproof and humidity-resistant - ensuring it will last for many years outdoors.

*** Bamboo does not rot easily. However, in order to keep its original look over time, keep it dry, reduce natural cracking and prevent delamination, it's highly recommended to coat the stand with an oil-based stain before exposing the stand to the elements. Failing to do so will cause one or all of the above to occur over time.

Customer Satisfaction Policy
We strive for total customer satisfaction and want you to be completely happy with your purchase! If you wish to return or exchange a product, please contact us within 30 days of receipt of your order. Products must be returned in new, unused, never assembled and in resalable condition with all their original packaging. Return shipping is paid by the customer. Please note: as much as we hate doing this, we reserve the right to decline a return if improperly packaged, or adjust the refund if hardware is missing or hammock is not in like new condition.

Product Guarantee

Limited One Year Warranty

Hammock Universe ("Hammock Universe") warrants that for a period of one (1) year from the date of original retail purchase, this product will be free from defects in material and workmanship. Hammock Universe, at its option, will repair or replace this product or any component of the product found to be defective during the warranty period. Replacement will be made with a new or remanufactured product or component. If the product is no longer available, replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive warranty.

This warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser from the date of initial retail purchase and is not transferable. Keep the original sales receipt. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty performance. Retailers selling Hammock Universe products do not have the right to alter, modify or in any way change the terms and conditions of this warranty.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty does not cover discoloration of product, damage caused by mildew, mold or any external source. It does not cover normal wear of parts, or damage resulting from any of the following: rodents, pests or any animal, negligent use or misuse of the product, commercial use of the product, use contrary to the assembly instructions, repair or alteration by anyone unless the service was authorized by Hammock Universe. Further, the damage warranty does not cover acts of God, such as: fire, flood, wind, hurricanes, tornadoes, storms and any form of precipitation: (i.e. rain, snow, hail). Warranty void if damage to the product results from the use of a part other than a genuine Hammock Universe part.

Address correction/redirection?
Please note that ALL carriers charge a fees to their customers for an address correction once the package has shipped. This fees is on average $15 for changing something as simple as 115 Main St. to 117 Main St. Please make sure the address is accurate when placing your order. If you see an error, please contact us ASAP to make the correction before the order is processed.

Decline Delivery or Return to Sender
Please note that ALL carriers charge a return fee equivalent to the outgoing shipping fee. If you decide to cancel your order once it has been shipped and choose to have it redirect to us, decline reception on delivery day, or simply decide or fail to pick it up at the nearby pick up location, we reserve the right, at our discretion, to deduct both the outgoing and returning cost amounts from your refund.

Installing a hammock is usually not too complicated. However, the most common issue is deception. NOT with the product itself but the FIT!

We provide minimal dimensions for the specific product under the SPECS Tab.

Before purchasing a hammock or a stand, it is important to allow yourself 5 minutes to measure the space you have on your patio, between the trees or anywhere else.

Doing that with a measuring tape (and not using the good old eye guessing technique 😊) will allow to choose in accordance with the space you have and allowing for relaxation in no time when your order arrives!

1- For other modes of payments, your credit card will be charged in full on the day of the transaction.

The bamboo stand is in its natural state. It has only been oiled (70% Tung and 30% Rosin mixture) for protection during transportation and storage. This protection will not be sufficient against the elements.

We therefore STRONGLY recommend that you protect it with semi-transparent exterior stain, with UV inhibitors. Applying 1 or 2 coats before use will protect the stand from future discoloration and ensure that its beauty is maintained throughout the seasons. Semi-transparent exterior stain, with UV inhibitors, is available in local hardware stores.

NOT Recommended
Transparent, non-flexible, film-forming finishes such as lacquer, shellac, urethane, and varnish are not recommended for exterior use on bamboo. Ultraviolet radiation will penetrate the transparent film (even with UV inhibitors) and degrade and discolour the wood surface making its restoration a little bit more complicated.

If you choose not to coat the bamboo stand, which we do not recommend, you can expect these esthetic and structural issues over time.

What is to be expected

Oxidation
An unprotected bamboo stand will allow oxidation on the surface. The bamboo stand will turn grey on the surface. Similar to what Cedar or any other wood would do.

Minor cracking
As with any organic material, minor cracking is to be expected when the bamboo contracts and expands in its new home backyard. The difference in the various climates we have across North America will affect how your bamboo stand reacts. Applying a stain over the bamboo stand will reduce water absorption and minimize cracking from expansion and contraction.

Delamination
Delamination is covered under our warranty if it was to happen even when the stand was protected with a stain. This is especially rare but not impossible. Delamination will often happen when the stand is not protected which allows the Bamboo material and glue to get soaked with water. Over time, this breaks the bond and causes delamination. Hence the importance to stain your stand.

Remember that all of these can mostly be avoided with a quality stain! For durability and reduce maintenance, we recommend a Deck Stain.
